The Tahoe Art League is perhaps the premier arts organization for South Shore Artists. They have well over 100 members, help place art work all over town and sponsor many great events including a monthly meeting with helpful talks and demonstrations by local art experts. The Tahoe Tallac Association is a non-profit arts organization that puts on the Vahalla Arts & Music Festival each summer. There are several dozen events at the Tallac Historic Site on Highway 89 just past Camp Richardson. These include fine art and photography exhibits in the Twin Cabins and the Dexter Baldwin Gallery as well as art workshops for children. In addition to art events, there are jazz concerts, theater productions and classic film series.

"TAP" is a non-profit local arts organization whose main focus is on introducing art to Tahoe's youth. One of TAP's signature activities is bringing performing arts groups to perform in the schools of El Dorado, Alpine and Douglas Counties. This is an ornately-carved whale's tooth showing a fantastic whaling scene. Because there was no way to attach anything to it without damaging it, we constructed a display case of hard maple frame moulding. The top lid has glass for viewing. It is hinged so the box can be opened to reveal a custom-molded velvet bed where the whale's tooth sits. | ![]() |
