About Us

Lake Tahoe Master Framing is owned by Tahoe local Doug Rousse and his family. Doug and his sons Sam and Joe all work in the business full time along with long-time store manager Amber. Doug's wife Nancy even pitches in when she's not at her full time career as a nurse.

Adding to their framing resources is the expertise they've acquired from running two other frame shops they own, a Fastframe in Carson City near the Home Depot, and a Fastframe in Minden, which also features an art gallery.

In addition to years of expertise and the latest in computerized framing equipment, we have a Certified Picture Framer on our staff. In fact, we are one of the only frame shops in the entire Reno Tahoe area with a Certified Picture Framer.

Further, we teach the matting and framing class at the Lake Tahoe Community College each year in the spring.

Unlike nearly all other frame shops, we also have framing in major museums as well as major corporate and private collections.

Two Kinds of Shadow Boxes

The Wedding Shadow Box

Here is an example of an elaborate shadow box that showcases all the special items from a wedding.  The gloves, bouquet, invitation, purse, lace from the dress, photo, etc.

The Sculpture Shadow Box

Here is a different kind of shadow box, a simple yet elegant presentation for two carved African Fertility Gods.  Because they were made to be put under a couple's bed to promote fertility, they don't have the balance to stand up on their own.  So a shadow box frame is the perfect solution.
